A few years ago some of us took part in Jantastic to motivate ourselves through the colder months. Sadly in recent years they've been unable to secure enough funding to keep going. This has caused my fitness to suffer. Therefore, in a similar vein to the original, I've set up our very own version.
The website it rather crude at the moment but it should already allow you to register and set a goal for the first four weeks. You will then be able to track your runs and also see how everyone else is progressing.
For those of you who don't know what Jantastic was:
What to do:
1. The first four weeks. January the 1st to January the 28th (inclusive) – All about consistency. How many runs will you do per week? Anything from 3 to 14 depending on your own personal challenge.
2. January the 29th to February the 25th (inclusive) – Time to up the challenge. Set a personal target for the number of runs you’ll do each week and also the distance of each week's longest run.
3. February the 26th to March the 25th (inclusive) – One final push. How many runs, how far and what time? Set a personal target for the number of runs you’ll do each week, the distance of each week's longest run, and also your predicted time for flat-out effort over a race, parkrun or even one of your favourite training routes.
You have until the end of the Tuesday in the week following the run to enter it into the website.
For each week of the challenge you get a ‘Tailtastic score’. If you complete all of your targeted goal runs (and log them) you’ll score 100% for that week. Your goal is maintain the highest Tailtastic score you can throughout the challenge campaign. Your Tailtastic score starts at 0 and the more of your target runs you log the higher this score goes week on week.
So for example for each of the first four weeks…
In week one if you’ve set yourself the target of four runs and you do all four you'll score 100%, then in week two if you only do two runs you'll score 50%, if you're ill in week three and you only do one run but play your joker [not yet implemented] (which counts for 50% of your weekly target, in this case two runs) you'll score 75% and if you miss the deadline for logging your week four runs you'll score 0%.
Overall that would give you a Tailtastic score for the first four week block of 9 out of 16 runs which equals 56%.
Each of the three blocks of fours weeks is scored in a similar way and add up to make your overall Tailtastic score for 2018. ... See MoreSee Less
