ABBEY, the Runners' Bell in memory of my wife and former Abbey Runner Catherine Ladd, will be cast in Loughborough on Thursday. On Saturday, I'm doing a TRIPLE5K to raise funds for her. I'll be doing my first ever Park Run (5000m, of course), then ringing two full peals of 5000 changes, first on handbells in Leeds, then on tower bells (at St Swithun's, East Retford). If you're able to sponsor me please, that would be great! ABBEY is our charity bell too, so half of the money raised for her will be donated to the Club's charity, Hollybank Trust, supporting West Yorkshire folk with learning difficulties. Many, many thanks to those who've already sponsored me. ABBEY will be one of 10 new bells in the Anglican Church of St George, Vernet-les-Bains in the Eastern Pyrenees, where Catherine and I had our second home. ... See MoreSee Less
I've made a few changes for this year, which I hope will be seen as improvements.
First off, it now has its very own domain. You can now find the site at: <https://tailtastic.uk>. The "server" has also been upgraded from a RPi2 to an RPi3.
The scoring has also changed slightly. After the first four week period, when your score is based purely on the number of runs per week, there will no longer be an even split for each element of the goal*. The distribution is as follows.
Weeks 1 - 4: Run count 100%. Weeks 5 - 8: Run count 70% : Long distance 30%. Weeks 9 - 12: Run count 50% : Long distance 25% : Paced run 25%.
The goals have also been updated. Again starting in the second four week period. Instead of having a single distance or paced run that had to be the same every week, to better fit in with people who have such things as training plans, these can be different each week (although unlike the original Jantastic) there still has to be one for each week.
Accounts from Tailtastic 2018 will continue to work. If you've forgotten your password, follow the link on the login page.
If you didn't join in last year, but would like to give it a go this year, you're more than welcome to register.
* I worked out that in March it was possible to get 77.8% from one run each week and started to game the system. This is to save myself. ... See MoreSee Less
